Hello, I’m the editor
A jewelry lover with a sceptic’s eye.
I have bought jewelry online for years: some of it I still wear every day, and some of it tarnished before the return window closed. The difference was almost always in the details the listing buried, like plating thickness, post material or a flimsy clasp.
PureCarat is where I write those details down. Each guide covers one kind of piece with seven picks, and I say plainly what each one is made of, who it suits and where it falls short.
Every pick links to a live Amazon US listing that was checked for an in-stock offer. The product card shows Amazon’s current price, so what you see is what you pay. I never type a price in, and if a listing goes away I replace it.
Read the guidesMy hallmarks
Three standards every pick has to meet.
Say the metal
Every review names the metal and plating, so “gold tone” never hides brass.
Worth the wear
I favour pieces that hold up to daily life: secure clasps, sturdy posts, honest sizing.
Seven, not seventy
Seven pieces per guide, all different. No colour or size duplicates padding a list.
